Education Inclusion Innovation Grants Launched

In honor of National Inclusive Schools Week (Dec. 5 – 9, 2017), Designer Genes of North Dakota is introducing Education Inclusion Innovation Grants. These grants are to encourage school-based activities that create, enhance or promote inclusive strategies relating to academic and/or extra-curricular participation of students with disabilities. The grant is available to elementary and secondary schools within the Bismarck/Mandan community.  Requesting schools should demonstrate interest in the project area, creative collaboration, and leveraging of other resources.

Designer Genes’ mission is to strengthen opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and those who support them to earn, learn and belong. It seeks to create a community that embraces, respects, and supports people of all abilities, especially those with Down syndrome. The hope is that the Innovation Grants will create additional inclusive practices within the selected school district. The grant may replicate and/or add to other “best practice models” or address an entirely new project for the selected school.

Grant applications will be accepted through Feb. 17, 2017.  Grant awards will be announced on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 – World Down Syndrome Day. A total of four (4) grants of $500 will be awarded. Grant projects should be completed with funds expended by November 30, 2017. No match or in-kind funding is required.
